When downloading movies and video from torrents, is there any way I can download it as WMV instead of AVI?

I've just downloaded a movie from a torrent, but the problem is that it downloads as an AVI, and when I play it on WMP the picture doesn't show up. So I converted it to WMV, but the problem now is that the sound is messed up. Is there any way I can download a WMV type file from the torrents instead of the normal AVI?
