Army Deserter Question!!?

Hi my best friend is a US Army deserter. She has come to me asking me for help, she was in her Combat training for only a month and couldn't handle it and has been gone since Christmas leave of 2006. She has talked to several MP's about going to Fort Knox, but the best I can do is take her to the local air force base where we live. I have agreed to help her turn herself in but she is really confused, she has friends who were in the army and mp's telling her to go to the air force base turn herself in and she will get sent to Fort Knox, and now she has some deadbeat attorney telling her not to do it cause if she does she will go straight to jail and will get sent straight back to her training unit. She is living right now in so much fear and I can't stand to see her that way and thats why I'm helping her. Can anyone tell me if she has got the right plan together by going to the local air force base.
