Any Social Advice?

So basically a lot of the time i say hi, ask a question make a super small conversation then there's nothing to say and Theres a silence, and finally someone says i got to go see you later or something like that. And advice on how to end conversations more easliy or good conversation starters, or things to keep a conversation going? I' m just looking for anything you tink could help, even if only a little, other than stuff like nice weather, or so how've you been.
